Bio:

Musical duo Jonah Luke and Annie Jo play joyful, lively, thoughtful folk-rock with a dash of pop and a sprinkling of a cappella. With stirring harmonies and upbeat tunes, they bring out the sunshine wherever they perform, even in their rainy city of Portland. Playing around the country (and perhaps the world), the two enjoy sharing the musical love.

Jonah Luke grew up playing drums in a cajun band, and quickly expanded his repertoire to trombone and guitar and songwriting for a few different rock bands. Annie Jo, on the other hand, grew up acting in musicals at her local community theater and singing at the dinner table, to the annoyance of her family. The two met in college and became fast music-making partners, performing in their school’s musical, Urinetown, and singing in a cappella groups. This knack for performance and playfulness comes across in their concerts, where they sing originals and covers.

Jonah Luke’s first solo EP, I Don’t Need You to Know, was released in 2010 after being recorded in various dorm rooms. Finding a Way Home, the group’s first full length album, came out in 2013 and was celebrated with a release show at The Secret Society in Portland, OR. Other venues the duo have enjoyed playing include the Crystal Ballroom, Alberta Street Pub, McMenamin’s Edgefield Winery, The White Eagle, and Maryhill Winery. In 2015 they released a full-band EP called Within The Lines. They are currently playing around the Western United States, writing songs, and performing in Portland.

Jonah Luke’s “I Don’t Need You to Know EP” is the debut recording from this Portland, Oregon singer. His music on this disc is joyful, acoustic and sunny. The title track is a bouncy full-strum tune with some “dum dum dee” bubbly backing vocals. This is a good freshman set. Luke’s music doesn’t so much grab you by the collar as it does give you a quick hug and a pat on the back. Enjoy!
